August 2, 1999
To speed up the registration process at the ISSC, if you are going to be paying at the door, go ahead and send a registration form with that so noted. That way, we'll already have you in the computer and have your registration package all ready for you. Then, all you have to do is pay when you get to the conference.
To date, over 150 organizations are represented at Orlando'99. These originate from 19 different countries. Check out the new Participating Organizations page.
Continuing Education Units (CEU's) will be offered at tutorials during the conference. If you are planning on participating in these sessions, be sure and sign up for them during the tutorials. The CEU's will be granted by the University of Central Florida, at a rate of one-tenth (0.1) of a CEU per hour of class.

The ISSC hotel, the Holiday Inn International Drive Resort, has sold out some dates. If you attempt to make reservations and there is no room at this hotel, please ask for information about the alternate accomodations that have been pre-arranged.

A new price has been posted for those interested in going on the tour of Kennedy Space Center. It is still necessary to pre-register for the tour, but the cost will be $10 for anyone (including spouses, etc.) wanting to attend. Please visit the page on Tickets and Tours or use this form to sign up.
The System Safety Handbook will be offered for sale on CD-ROM at the ISSC. It will be available to conference attendees at a 25% discount ($60 for Society members and $75 for non-members). Also, as a FREE bonus, a copy of MIL-STD-882C will be included.
Several Orlando'99 participants have authored textbooks related to system safety. These books will be available for sale at a discount during the ISSC. Arrangements are being made where the authors will be on hand to autograph their books, as well as answer questions during the conference.

We are sorry to report that Panel PL-5, Safety Standards has been cancelled. This was scheduled for Thursday afternoon. There are still plenty of other activities to choose from during this time, including 3 concurrent technical sessions.

The Schedule page has been enhanced to include much greater detail. Information is posted on exact time, place, and content of all the ISSC's technical content, including papers, tutorials, and panels. If you are looking for something in particular at Orlando'99, go to the schedule.
The Information for Authors page now includes important information such as a list of session chairs. If you are presenting a paper, please visit this part of our site.
We are promoting a golf outing on the morning of Saturday, August 21 at 9:00 a.m. at the International Golf Club. This course is a challenging test of skill, designed by renouned architect Joe Lee. The special rate for ISSC attendees is $45 (plus tax) for greens fees and a cart. To reserve a tee time, please contact the ISSC Conference Chair, Mike Kochmann. Check out the IGC website. If you are a golfer, you won't want to miss this opportunity.

The Schedule is locked for the conference. We will be publishing more details soon, including paper presentations, panel content, and tutorial information. All these details will be provided to attendees in hard copy when they arrive, but we will be posting some of this information shortly.

Have you registered yet? If you have, check out the new Information for Attendees page. You will find news on what is going to happen between now and when the conference will begin, which is only 2 months away! If you haven't, do so soon. The registration fee goes up as the conference dates approach.
Authors: final papers were due 6/15/99. All papers need to be submitted as soon as possible to make the publishing deadline. If you submitted a draft paper and have not heard from the Technical Committe, please contact your session chair. If you have a problem and do not know who to contact, send a message to Jack Dixon at ISSC1999@yahoo.com.

The Schedule page has more information including when sessions, tutorials, and panels will take place. If there is a particular topic you are looking for, look at the schedule for when those papers will be presented.
All conference attendees will be provided the opportunity to tour Kennedy Space Center (KSC) for only $10. We have arranged for representatives from the KSC Safety Office to serve as your personal tour guide on a KSC tour Monday and Saturday. These tours are limited to the first 50 people that sign up for each day. Additional tours will be provided through the KSC visitor center on Saturday. All of these tours are available for $38 for persons (such as family) not attending the conference. Go to the Tickets and Tour page to view a description of the tours, to sign up, and pay by credit card. EVERYONE ATTENDING THE TOURS MUST SIGN-UP.

See the Schedule page for evolving details of what is planned for the conference. We have announced 8 tutorials and 4 panel discussions. Also, there is instructions on the CSP workshop, and news about the Kennedy Space Center tours.
We have live music planned for Monday evening for a welcome reception and for after the awards banquet on Thursday. Both are going to be poolside. One is a guy-on-a-stool/Jimmy Buffet type, and the other is a steel drum band. The details of this are still coming together.
