August 25-29 2008
The 26th International System Safety Conference will bring practitioners and foremost thought-leaders of the system safety discipline together for an exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences in Vancouver, Canada.

The conference theme, "The Next Generation of System Safety Professionals", is an invitation for professionals at relatively early stages of their careers to benefit from the wealth of system safety knowledge and experience acquired by the membership of the System Safety Society. Expertise in system safety is rare and highly valued knowledge that opens doors to many interesting and rewarding career opportunities. Participation in this conference will be one of the best opportunities in 2008 to gain a foothold in the discipline of system safety.

The technical program will feature a rich variety of contributions that include peer reviewed papers, forum papers, tutorials, workshops, panels and poster sessions. Participants may anticipate high quality contributions from many different domains including aerospace, automotive, defense, health care (e.g., patient safety, medical technology), rail, robotics, critical infrastructure systems (e.g., nuclear energy generation) and industrial control systems.

Centrally located in downtown Vancouver, the conference hotel is a luxurious, elegant and sophisticated venue that embodies the classic "Art of a Fine Hotel". Guests of the Sheraton Wall Centre will enjoy floor to ceiling windows with stunning panoramic vistas of the city, ocean and coastal mountains.

Conference participants will enjoy the ambience of the "the world's most livable city" and its spectacular setting on the west coast of Canada.

Dress Code: Casual business attire is encouraged during the Conference. Casual attire is appropriate for the Thursday evening off-site event. Business dress is suggested for the Thursday awards luncheon.

Reminder: U.S. residents will need a passport to travel to Vancouver. For info on obtaining or renewing a U.S. passport, click here.
