Submit an abstract of the poster first to be reviewed for acceptance before June 16 in order that it appears in the ISSC'08 program listings.
As an alternative to a traditional paper, a poster is a great way to share experiences and new ideas with other conference attendees. At this year's conference, registered conference attendees will be able to display posters on posterboards located in prominent areas of the conference floor. There will be specific "poster session" times during the conference week when we will encourage attendees to visit the poster displays for interactions with poster presenters.
(If you missed the deadline for a paper contribution, then submitting a poster proposal is another way to show your boss that you are doing a presentation at the conference when you ask him or her to approve your request to the conference!)
We strongly encourage all prospective attendees interested in producing a poster for the conference to visit http://www.swarthmore.edu/NatSci/cpurrin1/posteradvice.htm which provides excellent advice on producing high quality posters. This site even includes two different downloadable MS/Powerpoint templates that will allow you to create a poster that is 36x56inches. Even though this particular site was written for folks in the biological sciences, the lessons are spot-on for ISSC poster presenters, and the two Powerpoint templates are well-designed.
In general, the maximum dimensions of a poster for the conference are 40 inches tall by 60 inches wide. The minimum dimensions are 24 inches tall by 36 inches wide. The poster should be designed to stimulate questions or comments about a concept, methodology, tool or experience that is relevant to the theory or practice of system safety.
To be eligible for first priority in space to present your poster, you should submit a proposal for a poster by visiting http://sss.confex.com/sss/2008/cfp.cgi. The deadline is June 16. Your proposal will be reviewed within 48 hours. Once approved, you'll be able to upload your poster (as a pdf and also as a ppt file) to the submission website. We recommend that you do this as early as possible, in order that you can take advantage of the review by our poster chair. and then upload a final version of your poster to the submission site.
If you upload a real size final version of your poster electronically in PDF format by June 25, then we will include a PDF copy of your poster in the CD conference proceedings if the poster meets our minimum quality standards (both with respect to format and content).
