Have you considered a trip to the Washington, D.C. area next August? Well, plan ahead because the 15th International System Safety Conference is going to be in our nation's capital next summer. This may seem far off, but there are many reasons to get ready for this event. A call for papers has been made. Many events are scheduled. This looks to be another great conference, in the fashion of the one in Albuquerque last year. To keep in touch with the latest news, take a look at the D.C. chapter's web page at http://nasdac.faa.gov97issc/. Hope to see you there in August!

Our Florida Chapter's website contains a number of new additions. The latest draft of MIL-STD 882D is available. There are some career opportunities listed. This is a good source of system safety engineering information. The address is http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~mck44380/flsss.htm.
The Washington, D.C. Chapter recently participated in the National Safety Council's Congress and Exhibition in Orlando. They were promoting their upcoming International System Safety conference as well as the society in general. Kudos to Benny Smith for organizing the society's presence at this event. Several Florida Chapter members also volunteered their time in manning the booth. Exposure at the Congress was fantastic. We know our profession has a lot to offer. However, getting news of our services out to those unfamiliar with our abilities is a continuous challenge. Teaming with the NSC presents a great opportunity for us to reach industries in need of our capabilities. Look for good things to come from this partnership.
